Today's workout was a Leslie Sansone 30 minute, 2mile tape. It was really good. I think I will do her tapes on days when I dont have time for a full 60 minute workout. It was something to try and raise my arms and legs and be walking quickly. It was a good workout. One DVD as 5 workouts and one DVD I bought has 3 workouts. All of them sound really good. Gotta get closer to that 20 pound mark.

60 minutes treadmill (4.035 miles, 618 calories) Hauling a**.... weigh-in tomorrow. Had a weird week. Only worked out 3 days, ate everyday at my target,didnt hardly touch my 35 flex points. So I ate great and got in some workouts. Hoping to at least lose .4 to get to my 15 pound mark at WWs. I am down more at home :)

Hey there,
Everyone please pray for safe travel for Steve tomorrow (Friday the 25th) and Tuesday (the 29th). He is going to see his dad with his brother Eric. They are taking their dad to see his brother who has terminal cancer. I told Steve if he dies I am going to kill him. LOL Ain't I optimistic? The kids and I are going to South Bend late on Saturday until Monday afternoon. Pray that we not drive Dad insane. LOL

I exercised 4 days in a row--today was the best day of all---I took Leah sledding on "big hill" in our back yard--We had a ball with David and his buddy Dallas--we sledded and watched a beautiful sunset. Leah was trying to clap her hands in her oversized snowsuit and looked like a seal. It was pure joy.
The only bad thing about exercising is that it kicks in my appetite. I tend to eat more and don't lose any weight. :) Love, Ruth

A non scale victory (NSV) I posted this on my Weight Watchers board.
For some reason today when it was time to get dressed, I decided to try on a pair of jeans that I had just tried on a week or two ago and they were a bit too snug for my liking (they are 17's juniors,not sure what size that would be in women's) I put them on today and I actually looked good in them. I put on a white Eddie Bauer t-shirt and hanging in my closet was a khaki lightweight jacket. I put it all on and felt really good. Dug through my closet some more and found a pair of clogs that must be brand new (dont even remember buying them) I went downstairs, pull my hair out of a hair tie and curl it a little. Put eyeliner and mascara on. My high schooler comes in before I head to carpool. Says "why are you all dressed up" I am thinking "jeans and a white t-shirt is dressed up" I get my son from carpool and head to the middle school. Run into a mom from our neighborhood "why are you so dressed up" I said I tried these clothes on and they fit so I decided to wear them. I go into the game, I see a 7th grade boy I have known since elementary school, He says "Hi Mrs M. why are you so dressed up" I say Jordan what about me says 'dressed up', he says 'well, you are wearing your hair down" Every basketball Mom commented on my hair and said You look great. After my daughters bball game,my son had roller hockey and then it was indoor soccer tonight. The Moms at indoor soccer again "you look great" A friend of my daughters was at the bball game and played an indoor game before us. Her mom comes up to me and says I have to tell you what anna said today when I picked her up from the basketball game. "You should Megan's Mom, she has lost weight, she was wearing makeup and she had her hair down. She looked great. " It made me feel really good.
I know I should do a better job of putting myself together when I go out. I feel like I have for years just worn what I am comfy in and what I was comfy in was hiding my body. I know I have a ways to go, but it feels good to be making some progress. Today was a good day

Hey there,
Miracle of miracles, I exercised 2 days in a row. I walked on the treadmill last night and the night before. I only walked 2 miles an hour but I was on for 45 minutes the first night and an hour last night. I am going slow because I am reading a book at the same time. I hate exercising indoors and if I am forced to do it I need to read. I am reading an interesting book entitled the Bridal Wreath by Sigrid Undset. It is very interesting--basically a Catholic romance novel--not unlike Pride and Prejudice and others. :) Gotta run. Leah is awake from her nap. Love, Ruth

I had Christine home today with her belly hurting. Mine still hurts off and on. Ifigure Megan will be sick the whole time we are in HH. I have no idea how she hasnt gotten it since she and Matthew hang out together and all over each other all the time.

Week 14 weigh-in. I lost again. I lost .6, for a total of 14.6 pounds in 14 weeks. I really wanted my 15 lb star, so next week it is MINE. I was down much farther on my scale but last week I was down more at WWs then I was at home. This week the scales were more accurate in my opinion. So to restate my goals. I still want to be down 20 pounds by Hilton Head, totally doable. I have 4 weigh-ins left, so I need to lose 5.4 pounds in 4 weeks.
Hope you all are doing well? Mike are you still losing? Ruth have you started doing any formal exercise? I need to go workout soon as I am taking Matthew to see the Chipmunk movie at 1pm. I dont think I will get a workout in later if I dont do it now. Matthew wants tonight to be baked potato night for dinner. Easy meal. I eat mine with FF cottage cheese (actually so do some of my kids) A woman at WWs said she uses salsa when she eats her cottage cheese. I might try that. Salsa is zero points.

Saturday workout in. 60 minutes treadmill, burning 549 calories, creeping towards that 4 mile mark.
It is snowing here. It was supposed to start at noon and it start at 3pm. 2 1/2 hours later we have a little on our grass. It is a tad disappointing. We were all hoping for some inches of snow to play in. Guess we will see how long it snows. We might be sledding at midnight. I hope not.

Friday workout IN. 60 minutes on the treadmill , burning 513 calories. WOOHOO, I am so close to doing 4 miles in 60 minutes. Still walking. No jogging until I get to the 30 pound mark at least. I will decide once I get there.
WE are getting SNOW tomorrow. Long weekend, start of new quarter...good timing :) I plan to sled, last time Megan and I took out a small tree when we hit it LOL

Workout IN, 60 minutes on the treadmill 468 calories woohoo. I was able to the hold the 4.0 speed, once for 5 minutes and a couple more times for 3 minutes. I almost finished 4 miles in the 60 minutes so that means I am getting closer to holding that 4.0 more than any other speed.
Christine ran on the treadmill earlier and she runs at a 6.0. She says she walks at a 3.0. I felt good knowing I walk faster than her. I use a 1.0 incline, too. A friend of mine that does marathons said the incline is better for your knees/hips etc.
Now to shower, have a snack and drink more water. Love, JoJo

Workout IN. 60 minutes on the treadmill...burning 420 calories...woohoo!! I had to stop at 20 minutes to poop ( I know too much information) and I stopped at 40 minutes to fix the fan behind me I couldnt feel it. What I would like to do now is take a nap :) But I have to get showered and head to Megan's basketball game. My tummy is a bit off today. I think I am still recovering from my tummy hurting on Saturday. I heard that tummy virus comes and goes. I think that is why Matthew's tummy still hurt today even though he felt better all weekend.
Week 13 weigh in. I lost 2.4 pounds for a total of 14 pounds in 13 weeks. Yippee. So now my short term goal is to get to the 15lb mark and closer to the 20 pound mark. Man, is it cold outside. I will get my workout in today before I head to Megan's basketball game at 345pm at the sports center by our house.
Last night I set the alarm wrong. I set it for 745am instead of 645. By 745 Megan's bus is GONE and by the time we got downstairs Matthew's was going by. The pace was too fast for Matthew. I got Megan to school but he is still here. His tummy hurt. Maybe it was the jumping out of bed and getting dressed LOL Instead of taking him late, I am going to just give him a day to stay home. Well, I say that, but he has about 20 minutes to decide or I wont take him because it wouldnt count as a full day anyway.

Amazing workout IN. I did it, I did 60 minutes and 403 calories. The treadmill can be the most boring workout unless you make it interesting. I have music in the room I am in, but no TV so I rely on pushing myself to the next level and trying to hold it. Once I commit to a speed, I have to stick with it for at least a minute. I am tending to commit to a speed and seeing it through sometimes as long as 3 minutes. I feel good going into my weigh in tomorrow. I am hoping to get closer to my 15 pound mark. The 20 pound mark is still what I am shooting for Hilton Head, which is 6 weigh-ins. So 8.4 pounds in 6 weeks. Hope you all are doing well? I cant wait to go to Hilton Head. This week, I will go get the educational experience forms from my kids school.

I think sharing recipes is great! I was going to suggest it myself...I have some great recipes from Cooking Light I think would be fun to make while we are there and then pass on to each other. We can do Chili and I have a great Beef Stew recipe, too. Maura and I made some chocolate-covered fruit and pretzels the other day and it was yummy...I think you can do it with Dark Chocolate and it's not as unhealthy...actually, they say Dark Chocolate is good for you, right?!

Workout in. 60 minutes on the treadmill. Calories burned 386. I have worked out 432 minutes since the New Year started. I made a chart today to keep track of my minutes. I keep track of them in my WWs food journals, but it is easier to have it all on my sheet.
I finished my workout at 425pm. Matthew stayed home from school today and we didnt come downstairs until late. I think I slept more than he did. He watched TVand read a book. Christine had her first final today. She has 3 left.
Took yesterday off from working out. I will workout tomorrow and maybe have a planned day off again on Sunday. Working out 5 days a week feels really good.

Hey,
I think we should all join in posting with Jo Jo. I for one have not exercised in many many moons. I need to get motivated.
We have been trying to eat healthier as a family. The kids and I went to Sam's Club the other night and bought a ton of fruit. I am also making alot of healthy soups.
We can post our healthy recipes and try to keep each other motivated.
Here is a really easy healthy black bean dip:
1 can of black beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can of diced tomoatoes with green chilies
1 can of diced tomatoes with oregano, basil, and garlic
1 can of shoepeg corn (drained)
sweet onion chopped--whatever amount--to taste
8 oz. of light Italian dressing
The only bad thing about this bean dip is the after effects--if you get my drift. I eat healthy but I stink and have no friends. LOL
Another thing the kids love is to make smoothies with the fruit we bought--Mary Rose made strawberry banana smoothies with slow churned vanilla ice cream and skim milk. They were wonderful. I am sure there is a healthier way to make it--probably juice instead of ice cream. :)

Workout in. I did 35 minutes on the treadmill. I was pushing myself the whole time. Not sure if it is because I just worked out last night, finishing at 1040pm or what. I need to go outside right now and take down the Christmas decorations as they are calling for rain tomorrow. I dont want the greenery all wet or my bows to be wet. Maybe later I will do another 30 minutes. We shall see. Love, JOJO

Workout IN. Finished at 1040pm. I did 60 minutes on the treadmill. I did 7 minutes earlier today, but my lunch date came early and so I stopped. I thought I would get it done before I had to get Matthew from carpool. It didnt happen. Went to carpool and I could see when I as in line that he wasnt there. I pulled up and sure enough, he was on the bus. The bus had not left so they had him get off and head back up to where I was waiting. We get in the car and I could tell that he had pooped at school and not wiped well. So we had to go home and get clean underwear. I could have worked out in the time I wasted waiting in carpool and then getting him and driving home. Anywho, we left and we to Megan's basketball game. She played the first 6 minutes and the 4th quarter. Our starters were killing this team, so she got to come in with all the other 7th graders. It is good practice for them for next year.
Week 12 weigh-in. I lost 2.6 pounds. SO I lost the 1.2 I gained last week and 1.4 more. So for 12 weeks, I am down. I didnt get a workout in yesterday. So I worked out 5 out of 7 days. I feel really good when I am up and about each day, but sleeping still sucks. Lots of joint pain. I am hoping this will get better as I get the weight off. Hoping I dont find out one day that I have bone cancer (sheesh) I am not a good pill taker or I would take something like an anti-inflammatory. I just dont think to take anything. Today I am heading to IHOP for lunch. I need to get my workout in soon. Megan's bball game is today (not normal) so I will have to get it done before 230pm, when I have to go get Matthew from carpool. Have a great day everyone.

No workout today. Tomorrow I am going to try and get it in right after church. I want to get my outside Christmas lights down since it is going to be in the 60s tomorrow. Tree needs to come down, too. I will put the indoor decorations away while the kids are at school Monday.
Ruth and I looked up Hilton Head houses on the computer tonight. We are hoping someone will take a low ball offer from us. Soon we will be making hotel reservations. Tonight I worked on hotel reservations for hours for Megans soccer team. We are traveling to VA for a soccer tournament in March. In April we will head to Charleston SC ( I have always wanted to go there)
Megan played goalie today in an indoor soccer game benefiting the American Cancer Society. I love this tournament. They raised $42,000 last year. It is just kids playing soccer. Each team has to pay $250 to play, roster can be 15 kids. My contribution was $7.50 for Megan to play one game. I donated $50. The whole thing goes to ACS. Her team won 5-3. They played a CASL Elite team. Her team was made up of elite and challenge players.
Megan got her new glasses today, too. She wore them tonight and seems very comfortable with them. We, also, got her some Air Jordans tonight for basketball. She has been playing basketball in cross training tennis shoes. We had looked before and couldnt find what we wanted and they were all $99 and up. Today we went to the Foot Action Outlet and she got her air jordans for 70% off...they were $22.50 woohoo. So now her coach can stop asking her 'when you gonna get some real basketball shoes'

2:30pm Workout IN. A little later than I had hoped, but I got it in. I did 60 minutes on the treadmill. Said I burned 383 calories. Woohoo. I am beat :) A good tired though. Christine called me right when I finished my lunch today to see if I wanted to take her and Maret to lunch and of course eat with them. I went with them and had a diet coke. I love Panda Express, and a couple of weeks ago, I may have ordered something just to eat with them. Feels good to be in control.

I was going to take today off from working out, BUT tonight I was sitting reading my WWs magazine and I felt like I wanted to do 20-30 minutes. I got on and off I went. I decided on 30 minutes. Says I burned 185 calories. I have a slider with my weight watchers materials that helps me figure out the number of points I earn working out. I can chose to eat those points or bank them. I do both. This week, I have been banking them all week and using my 35 flex points if I need to use points.
Tomorrow I plan to get all the Christmas boxes and misc stuff that needs to be thrown away out of here as the trashman is coming on Saturday this week due to the New Year Day holiday. I am sure we will have plenty of trash.
Megan's basketball team is still undefeated. They won today in overtime by 2 points, it was an exciting game. She plays in the 5th quarter which is not apart of the real game as she is a 7th grader. When the varsity is beating a team badly she gets to play alot. One game she played the whole 4th quarter. Her glasses should be in anyday now. I will take her picture with her new glasses. Christine will be happy that Megan will then look a little different than her.

I did a 30-minute workout yesterday. Watch out JoJo, here I come. You are doing great and it is inspiring. I've got to get with it.
I think we are in for Hilton Head, but since we are not sure about the new and old houses, we are not 100%. I'd say we are about 75%.

1:40pm Workout IN. I just finished 60 minutes on the treadmill. I am getting stronger. When I did 60 minutes the first time it said I burned 330 calories, today I burned 370. To keep myself interested while I am working out, I am constantly increasing and decreasing my speed. I challenge myself to stay at a certain speed for a certain amount of time. Right before I got on the treadmill, I got to see some pretty flurries. I dont miss the snow, but the flurries are pretty.

Happy New Year!!!! Workout IN. Did 60 minutes on the treadmill. Plan is to get it in each day before NOON with 2pm being the latest. I would love to workout everyday, but we will have to see how it goes. Always shooting for 3-5 days is best.
